Well, certainly not 21 days like everyone says. I learned that habits people want to own such as waking up early or meditating or reading a number of books per year are not one-size-fits-all. It varies from people to people, and choosing the habits that suit us is as important as sticking to the habits themselves.
And sticking for how long? Possibly for a long time until it becomes automatic. Atomic Habits by James Clear had given me many helpful tips on how to make habits stick, and so far I’m using a calendar to mark each habit after I am done – so that I can see the actual progress.
