[DAY 24] Popsicle? No, thanks.

I do crave eating out. I do crave sweet, but most of the time, I miss Vietnamese food that has minimal sugar in it. When people ask me how I can refuse ice cream, I tell them this story.

I don’t remember how old I was, probably 10…

“Mom, can I have ice cream please?”

“You mean you want frozen banana with coconut milk and peanuts? Let’s wait ’til the weekend and I’ll make it for you.”

And as you may have guessed, that’s not what I was thinking of at all. I wanted the stuff that other kids get from the store, while mine was free from our extended family’s banana/coffee/all-kind-of-tropical-food field 1.5 hour out in the country. My mom always thought her cooking was the best in the world while I refused to believe that, until years later all I ever wanted is her food and her food alone.
